What are the advantages and disadvantages to Audio & Video on my web site?
Advantages:
Audio & Video can be impressive and add to your web site. It is especially valuable in some fields, such as playing samples for CDs, movies, etc.
Disadvantages:
Audio & Video can be very slow and the quality can be poor on some systems. It also is very taxing to the Internet Servers because of the large amounts of data it transfers in order to work. Only people that have ADSL, DSL, cable modems, or other very fast Internet access can truly appreciate audio and video. By 2002 many people will have these capabilities, at this time many people do not. It also takes much more time to prepare a good video than it does to prepare a web page. After creation it then needs to be converted so it works on the Internet.

How do I get video and audio on my site?

A.  Send us your video or music in a wav file.

B. Let us set you up with a Real Audio-Video Server. This is special software on our server which plays the special Real Audio Files on the Internet so people can see and or listen. Please contact us for the file formats required.

C. Prepare the sound/video files so they can be used with our Real Audio Video Server. Sound and Video files must be encoded using special software so they can be listened to or viewed on the Internet.

How do I Prepare Sound or Video Files to be Used on the Web?

A. Let us do it: We take your audio and Video and edit it and prepare it for the web. Cost is based on time needed to prepare your files and post them to your site.

B. You do it. You must get the Real Audio Video Software and then use it to create or edit your video or audio files. These files are prepared or encoded with this software so that they can be used on the internet. Most audio and Video in its current state can not be used on the Internet, they are too large. (It takes half an hour of waiting to download to just listen to a few minutes or less of sound in its normal state.)  The encoder takes sound and video and compresses it in such a way that it can be loaded faster on the internet. This is Streaming Video/Audio, meaning that it can be viewed or listened to as it is downloading, as opposed to downloaded first and then listening after the long wait times.
